"Design is a process of making dreams come true."

"I believe that few houses are as comfortable, as spacious, as pleasant, as handsome, as economical as they might have been had more thought been put into their creation, but who is to do the thinking? The spectacle of a million new houses a year being either inadequate, or too expensive, or both, is an impressive but impersonal tragedy."

A new home is probably the single biggest investment anyone will ever make. Building a home - or having one built for you - is always an exciting journey into the unknown, even for the experienced. Like any other journey, it's important to plan out one's destination before starting (How else will you know when you've arrived?). The experienced traveler carefully considers the best way to get where he wants to go and what he might need along the way. One can't possibly forsee all future obstacles, of course, but the prudent traveler (or future homeowner) plans well in the beginning to insure a positive and satisfying journey.

The choices made (more likely, not made) by the owners, architects, and contractors during the design phase can repay the prudent homeowner with years of comfort and pride in an adventure well planned and well made. Likewise, little things that seemed unimportant at the time (I thought you brought the mosquito spray!) can return to haunt the owner with years of inconvenience, frustration, and unnecessary expense. People can adjust to just about anything, but why should they settle for less than a fulfilling experience?

Most owners have an idea of what they want their project to look like, but have neither the time nor the knowledge to achieve the desired results. Integrating the thousands of homebuilding puzzle-pieces into a beautiful, smoothly-running "living" home with integrity is somewhat like writing a symphony. For those who love the work, the inspiration is the same - the design tasks are just different. The instruments used by the home designer are foot-candles, pounds per square foot, volt-amperes, relative humidity, and BTUs per hour. Homeowners "just want things to work", so they defer the hundreds of technical details involved in specifying the heating, cooling, lighting, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems to the architect, the builder, or the subcontractors.

Sometimes, leaving these decisions up to others can be a mistake.

Our company specializes in doing the tedious work that never seems to get done by the people you thought you were depending upon. We design "engineered" homes, additions, bathrooms, and kitchens. What that means is we pay attention to all the little details that make the difference between an average home and an extraordinary one - no matter what your budget.

If you already have a plan in mind, we can go through it and perform the analyses necessary to insure that your project will - within your budget - be built soundly and give you years of satisfaction, comfort, and pride. We'll do as little or as much as you want. We specialize in designing kitchens for people who will actually work in them, designed with proper layout, lighting, and enough storage space for the things they actually use. Have you ever been frustrated because that box of Zip-Loc bags or a utensil that you use every day is too tall to fit in your kitchen drawer? Us, too. We can fix that for you.     ...read about cabinets

We can create working drawings in AutoCAD and produce detailed specifications so that - in advance - both you and your contractor will understand the quality (and cost) of the materials, fixtures, and appliances to be installed. We can do detailed material takeoffs for your project help to nail down the cost of your project in advance.

Doing this work now will save you money during the construction phase, maintenance costs over the years, and will help make your project something you can be proud of.     ...read more.
